Why help Maria and Adrian?

Simply because they need help.

We are a small group of people, from several different countries, who for many years have followed the work of Maria and Adrian and can testify that these 2 people give EVERYTHING they have in them to be something for the animals.  We have from each our country, each our sofa  seen how these 2 people are fighting a daily battle for so many living beings. That is why we help them, each in our own way – the best we can. Some people are selling jam and donate their profits, some rescue dogs as foster and help the dogs to their forever homes, some provide adoptions, some provide logistics, others provide websites or help to inform and disseminate about this work.’

Still, we are in lack of help and resources.

Mostly of course financial resources.

Maria and Adrian could choose to turn their backs to what they meet everyday. They have a small child and might wish that their little boy grew up in a completely ordinary way, like other small Romanian children. But they choose to work with the heart, to use all the resources they have, to help. Naturally because to Maria and Adrian, a dog is not just a dog, it is a living being in need. And one does not leave living beings on the streets to a violent and painful death.

This is why,  when they meet a dog in the streets, along a highway, under some garbage, sick and malnourished, then it is for Maria and Adrian, as if it is an abandoned child and they can only do one thing, to help each one to the best of their abilities.

Maria and Adrian never have a holiday, never have a weekend off, sleep too little, get up before the rest of us and also work at night either with sick dogs or transports around Europe. They work when it’s too hot, too cold when it’s raining and everything’s wet. They are responsible for everything from visits at the vet , purchase of feed, feeding dogs at the shelter but also in the streets, cleaning of feces and neutralization of dogs.

They never have a break. At the same time, they must try to inform Europe about their work on social medias, about the dogs that are in need for homes, about the need when the bills pile up. In other words, they have far too much on their hands and need help.

  • Of course you can always adopt a dog if you have the space, time, abilities and can be approved to be the owner of a stray dog. For every single dog that can be helped to a better life, we are all grateful.
  • But donations are also needed. You can donate large or small money amounts either by contacting us or directly to Maria and Adrian via their paypal.
  • We need to help Maria and Adrian on a long term basis, so if you have the ability to work on larger projects that takes time to establish, you may be just the person we are looking for. You may also have the resources, materials, connections to companies or professionals who can help.
  • Maybe you have skills in communication. We are missing someone who can tell the story of Maria and Adrian as a visual storytelling, documentary, video, who can reach further to a larger target group of international people.
  • We are in lack companies that can support with advice and guidance, nationally and internationally. Advertising companies, advertising m.m.
  • We lack architects, engineers or the like who understand Romanian infrastructure and can guide and communicate about permits and opportunities for how we can secure and establish the shelter in the long term.
  • Companies that can offer larger donations in the form of materials to build  buildings, labor or transport, locally and internationally.
  • We need volunteers who want to help with daily work, locally at the shelter, but also to build the shelter.
  • We lack veterinaries and veterinary students who can see the opportunities in volunteering as part of their work and study.
